East Bay BALL Summer Camp

ABOUT CAMP

East Bay BALL Summer Camp is an ideal summer option for boys and girls ages 6-11 who love baseball and outdoor playtime! The camp is dedicated to improving the skill level and increasing the enjoyment of baseball for the youth of Oakland and surrounding East Bay communities.

2010 BALL Camp sessions are currently scheduled to take place at Caldecott Field (also known as the North Oakland Sports Complex) and Chabot Field (adjacent to Chabot Elementary School in the Rockridge neighborhood). Each one-week session runs Monday through Friday from 9am to 4pm, with private on-site after-care available with one of our senior staffers until 5pm.

Campers will receive hands-on instruction in all aspects of the game from our knowledgeable and enthusiastic staff. Mornings are devoted to drills and instruction; organized games take place after lunch. Each camper should bring his/her own glove, a water bottle, and a bag lunch - all other equipment will be provided.

In addition to fun-filled days of age-appropriate instruction and games, campers will receive a t-shirt and camp photo as part of their registration package.

WHAT'S NEW

July 24, 2010

Hello Everyone,

An exciting new project has sprung up at BALL Camp and we are eager to tell you about it!

One of our long-time campers, Coby Muchin - age 11 - has recently been named the California representative for a grass roots international organization called Project Beisbol. This Florida-based non-profit collects and delivers money, supplies, and equipment to kids in impoverished communities in Latin America so they can play baseball. Coby has spoken to the last two camper groups about this organization and has set up a collection bin at camp for Project Beisbol donations (we have already filled it to the brim twice!). Examples of accepted donations: usable bats, gloves, cleats, helmets, catcher's gear, clean but gently used pants, socks, jerseys, and hats.

Please consider sorting through your stash of baseball clothing and gear during the next two weeks and bringing your items to our camp site so Coby and the Project Beisbol team can get them to deserving young ball players in Cuba, Panama, Costa Rica, Venezuela, Nicaragua, and other far away places. You can bring your donated items anytime between 8:30am-4pm to the following camp locations:

June 26-30 - Caldecott
Aug. 2-6 - Chabot

Thank you in advance for supporting our enterprising young friend Coby and his worthwhile endeavor!

Cheers,

Scott & Debbie Bonzell
